Changing the world is possible through a single act, if that is multiplied across continents and across time. A volunteer taking that step to spend their time and money to visit a place such as India, to roll up their sleeves and sweat, has the power to influence dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people through that single humanitarian act. The root cause of many of the problems facing the world today results from a lack of education. And this does not mean only education of a developing nation’s poorest citizens, but the education of the Western world as well.
People First offers a chance every year for volunteers to join our staff working alongside them in a village experience programme which offers a unique chance to discover the real India, away from the tourist traps and the "hassle trail" Post programme evaluations have been extremely positive with some participants reporting a life changing experience.

This is really a very unique programme and a warm welcome awaits here in the green fields of Bihar, as the workcamp is held during the great Indian monsoon.
"As a teacher, I was very interested to visit some of the village schools and was amazed to see so much being achieved with such limited resources ".
I have come away deeply moved by the love and dedication of the staff at People First, and by the courage and optimism of the women and children they work with".
